Buy a token

What happens when you press Buy, and why a buy can be refused.

Open a token page, read its mods and risk report, enter an amount, press Buy. If the Site gate is active, the site asks for what the mods require (a captcha, your X account) and signs a ticket for your buy. Your wallet then signs the transaction.

Prices and slippage

Buys and sells on Mods carry a 10% slippage guard computed from a live quote of the curve.

Why a buy can be refused

Refusals come from the token's mods. They are shown in your wallet or on the page with one of these names:

ErrorMeaning
NotThroughGateBuys go through the site right now. Buy from the token page on Mods.
NotOpenYetBuys have not opened yet.
OutsideTradingHoursOutside the token’s market hours. Selling still works.
Blocked / NotAllowedYour wallet is on the block list, or not on the allow list.
BuyTooLarge / SellTooLargeThe trade is bigger than the share of supply allowed per trade.
WalletTooLargeAfter this buy you would hold more than the max wallet.
PriorityFeeTooHigh / TipTooHighYour priority fee or Jito tip is above the launch’s sniper cap.
SameSlotRoundTripYou traded the other way in the same block. Wait a moment.
SlotFullToo many trades in this block. Try again.
DevLockedThis wallet is locked by the creator’s dev lock.
CurveCeilingA forever curve is full. Selling still works.
OverCapYou reached the cap per person for this launch.
CoolingDownWait a little between two buys.

The risk report

Every token page reads the chain and flags what matters: does the creator hold unlocked tokens, how concentrated are the top holders, can bots sandwich you, do sells depend on the site. Green is good, amber is worth knowing, red is a risk.

Selling

Selling is always possible, except for wallets under a dev lock. During a site-only phase that also covers sells, sell from the token page; if the site is down, the kill switch opens everything within 10 minutes.
